Swaraat / Press Release

Thiru. R. N. Ravi, Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu participated as chief guest in “International Women’s day celebration organized at Bharathiar Mandapam, Raj Bhavan, Chennai, Yesterday (07.03.2025). Governor felicitated the women achievers from various walks of life who have contributed to the society and Nation’s development, with citation and shawl.

Hon’ble Governor in his chief guest address highlighted the unsung contributions of women—half of humanity—who, despite overcoming barriers of discrimination, societal constraints, and unequal opportunities, continue to be the unseen architects of families and society. Tirelessly nurturing, guiding, and fortifying the foundation of our lives, they embody resilience and strength. Their silent sacrifices and unwavering dedication have shaped generations, yet their immense contributions often go unrecognized.

Yet, their immense contributions remain largely unrecognized, their voices unheard, and their potential underutilized. Even after decades of independence, far too little has been done to ensure they receive the full recognition, respect, and opportunities they rightfully deserve.

In the last decade, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Thiru Narendra Modi, the immense potential and strength of Nari Shakti is being unleashed. Systemic barriers are being dismantled, and an enabling environment is being fostered—ensuring access to fundamental necessities such as sanitation, potable drinking water, and clean cooking fuel. Transformational initiatives such as Mudra Yojana’s collateral-free loans, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which empowers women as primary homeowners, and legislative reforms like the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023, mandating 33% women’s representation in legislatures, are redefining governance and leadership—from the grassroots to the national stage.

These efforts are not just about progress but about fundamentally reshaping the role of women in nation-building, driving a shift from women’s development to women-led development—where they are not just beneficiaries but a crucial driving force behind India’s transformational story. With steadfast resolve, confidence, conviction and unprecedented opportunities, and support women are no longer on the periphery of progress but leading the nation’s transformation with pride. Their leadership spans industries, governance, science, and entrepreneurship, breaking barriers and reshaping India’s future.

Through pioneering innovations and grassroots initiatives, they are strengthening communities and accelerating the nation’s development. As India advances, Nari Shakti is driving the vision of a Viksit Bharat—an empowered, self-reliant, and inclusive nation built on the strength and determination of its women.
